Father’s Day in the Cemetery

Gathering at the cemetery
I hear
the laughter
as they pay homage
to Grey Hound
and Grandma Edy

pouring out liquor
and sliding in some
jokes
on the side

They pass time
by examining
his presence/ her presence
collecting the moments
remembering
good times
recalling how these souls
ended up here
sleeping with the others

The breeze steps into this place
The sun is deceptive
taking up a position
behind the clouds

but it doesn’t matter

They keep warm
by watching bright
weeds lean
in afternoon sun
