The machine does not
wait or show mercy—
the crosshairs
seem to never go away
I try to walk
along this funky maze
made of tattered hopes
that used to seem
achievable
Now I resist because
no-knock warrants
murder dreams
and visions
and goals
and Black lives
I coast beneath traffic
lights—a beautiful
blur against the night
