“Poems for the People” @The Muse Writers Center!

Words and Images by C.J. X. Pression

Sunday evening at The Muse Writers Center for Poems For The People, feature show organized by Synnika Lofton, was the perfect end to a National Poetry Month weekend! Presenting a fine-tuned set showing a range of my work from humor to personal to social justice & women’s issues, titled Life Lessons, looking up from the mic to see former VA Poet Laureate (and this year’s Poet Fest 757 Keynote Speaker) Tim Seibles digesting and savoring my poems is now forever a hallmark memory in my mind. Nothing can touch that!

I snapped a few pictures of the other poet presenters- each an accomplished, local legend, inspiring others on the VA performance and poetry scene and beyond. Then, settled in to listen as they owned their spotlight with gusto! So many amazing lines and concepts were shared. If those walls could talk, they’d be awestruck with a resounding WOW! I know I was! Fantastic presentations! Extremely honored to have performed among you; felt surrounded by greatness! Kudos to each feature poet, absolutely amazing work!

✨(️Maddie! Another 1st for us!❤️)✨️
✨️ Poet Fest 757 2024 dates: April 26th-28th at The Venue on 35th ! Don’t miss this 3 day opportunity celebrating all things poetry!
