One Lane Road

Hanging a right on Witchduck
living this bizarre life this evolving

dance like risks are just parts
of my skin Moonlight flirts with

a pale smile Traffic patterns
change the farther I drift into

this section of Virginia Beach
Pay attention to the turns I

ain’t tryin’ to get lost he says
This is the way the other half

lives in palatial suburban castles
with electric bills higher than

most peoples’ monthly rent
Take a breath check the street

signs and like an urban mystic
I shake my ‘locs and disappear
