Geese on River Birch South

A Monday night jones. Stepping
high, like a god organizes my steps.

These uncaged wings defy logic
and reason, resting on concrete

perch. I scowl. Beneath Greenbrier
haze. Street traffic growls along the

interstate. This state (of mind) is free.
The animals breathe. Capitalism stinks.

An urban mystic.       With cornrows.
With an Afro. Smoke swirling around

the forehead. The geese roam streets,
stretching out like royal subjects.

They got a different swag. Trying
to be volatile and ageless, like them.
