Surviving Colony: Notes on a Debate

“You have no friends!” says
John Henrik Clarke, standing

on American lava.     Hostile
Stare. Iced-out smile. Tilted

crown. Stalling vehicles fail
to handle hazardous roads,

populated with devils’ holes
and    lifeless ideals. Liberals

step to the side of crumbling
buildings. Conservatives smirk,

turn their heads. “It’s all good,”
they say. American discourse

is a razorblade filled apple pie,
and the people eat, eat, EAT

belching     fragmented lives.
That pie speaks    polluted

steam. Talking heads bounce
and utter   dead languages.

Tribal tongues be on some
serious conformity and plan-

tation blues—colonized logic.
The people. The people. The

PEOPLE tighten ropes around
their own necks, flaunting nooses,

strutting runways, continuing
to play Master’s game.
