Meditation

A sage demonstrates
bending
toward
liberation,

            toward justice,
toward love,

toward
spicy words
and
raspy phrases,

twirling
into a
dimly lit room,

surfing on intellect’s
smoke,
dancing on ears,

            boogie boarding
on smiles.

I sink into
oblivion
on 35th street,

pleasantly

falling
into the Muse’s
embrace,

like resting on
a riff by Dexter
Gordon

or Nina Simone’s
soulful
voice.

This is a form
of paradise,

as I drown
in heavy
concepts and ideas,

hoping to sit,
with my legs
crossed,

at
the bottom
of this
meditation.
