Sundays in the Machine

Hit the pavement with aggression.
This race toward heaven got bluesy
stories and risky gambles. Break

open the machine on a Sunday
morning. Allow intentions to sidestep
traditions and polluted creeds.

D.C. politics still rage. A Chicago
mayor ain’t got time for toddlers
that soil Oval offices, cosplaying

for the cameras, deflecting short
attention spans. Strength is not
really what it seems in the

American paradigm. I focus on
testing fences for weaknesses,
or the last song Nipsey Hussle

preached into my hungry ears.
I whistle into late summer’s
humidity, avoiding the bars

of a tarnished cage, inspiring
overworked citizens to fight their
equally stressed-out neighbors.

The pulse is militant. Fills the
chest with daily rage, feeding
my restless agenda.
