AUDIO LEAK SUNDAYS: Island of the Mind or Listening to Miles Davis

Listen to the audio or read below!

Solitude is King. Isolation is a type
of God. Some may not understand
ambitions, goals, and appetites.

Nothing satiates the Hunger, like
the grit of living for the edge of oblivion’s
high. High pitched mutes resemble

the voice of man. Don’t speak too
loudly. Don’t walk too tall or work too
hard. Don’t let them visions outpace

social circles. Hustle is a bluesy eagle,
crisscrossing gray sky, unbothered
by political winds, polluted creeds,

or talking heads. Heavy is the head
that actually thinks. Jealousy’s filthy
eye sizes up perceived prey. I count

spaces beneath small dots of silver,
listening to Miles run down the logic,
like Fred Hampton standing behind

a wooden lectern, crafting coalition
with weighty ideas and convictions.
Power winks. Self-determination

is like a personal gumbo: savory,
spicy, and sweet.
