The celebratory poem is designed to support activists, parents, teachers, and community leaders who are continually fighting for racial justice and equality. This video is a tribute to her love, passion, and dedication to arts education. This poem was inspired by the countless Black boys and girls who have had to defend their natural Black hairstyles from school administrators. In some cases, they have been prevented from walking at their own high school graduations.
