CROW JIM

For moonlight, breaths
off river’s surface

I surface
like energy
child-like
phoenix-like

Black man
with stranglehold
on system
on propaganda
on Purpose

Tired
hungry
and therefore
FREE

               Drawing lines
    and surveying
    hostile turf

The earth
is not pleasant
I celebrate—a panther’s
love
conviction
rage
trying
to be Renaissance
or something
like it
