A healthy distrust for Wings. Left
wing. Right wing. Same old dusty

things with colonial voices,
circling their decaying bodies.

This is most of the time, like brewing
coffee on Monday mornings–

Kenyan blend– placing specific
tools in a black duffle bag to

dismantle Massa’s house. We all
know that you can’t use the same

tools. Breathe deeply. Refuse to
conform to normality. Sidestep

mental colonization. From a simple
cage, freedom wiggles through

rusty bars, shaking out polluted
water from damp wings and deferred

intentions. I climb through filthy
culture and redefine liberation,

a Raven of the next world, flapping
them mean wings, breathing

after my own fashion, like a Little
Drummer King properly should.
