Sunday_After_Snow

Boots in the snow labor for the cause.
Can’t start the day without testing

the body, the fences, the boundaries,
the empire’s yellow backbone. Game’s

new mixtape got that DJ Drama vibe,
painting pictures over gritty NYC

soundscapes, pulsing with hustle music
through tiny black earbuds. I escape

the machine each day. Train the mind
to wiggle through the cages, to navigate

around cracks in the cement. This jungle
moves, like an insatiable animal, a savage

creature evolving with each breath that
it takes.  I crunch through white layers–

an American life–avoiding black ice
in between the buildings. Urban sprawl

exhales a broken scene, forcing the issue
on a bright Sunday morning.
