If_You_Have_to_Entertain_Slaughter

Shine bright. Utter liberation. Hurl
uncaged ideas. Lessons learned

while walking through the belly
of slaughter. A country, a nation,

flailing in spring wind, trying to
make sense of its existence. Broken

men personify imminent decay.
I inhabit a break beat, living for

the impact of wingspan, flashing
a poker face as I stalk pavement

and the prey of day–motivation
is so fleeting and inconsistent.

Pace is king or a god. Grind till
I can’t see straight. Grind till the

weather changes, my body glitches
from exhaustion, or I meet His face,

Her face. Train the body. Train the
mind. Happiness is a temporary

comfort, not a goal. Rearrange
steps. Purpose finds a perch and

preaches sermons about longevity
and learning to breathe, like an

Alpha, moving to a different tempo,
an kempt drummer, with a graying

beard, relaxing his shoulders and
playing his pattern till the world

folds or he finds a conditional
peace raging within.
